The problem started back in the late 1990's when Mr. Clinton pushed to loosen lending practices, allowing "every family to realize the American dream of home ownership", which laid the groundwork for loan approvals to wholly unqualified borrowers to purchases grossly overpriced properties. Don't even get me started on the practice of using over-inflated home 'equity' as a piggy bank.
Rant over . . . welcome to reality. There'll be no quick fix for this one, we'll be paying for years.
