like Vietnam

Sad, but true.

Our military is the finest in the world, professional & proficient. The men and women accept orders and make every effort to complete their mission as assigned.

Much like in Vietnam, the idiots in Washington are politicizing the war, which will have a negative impact on our forces through resource reduction.

I believe we did the right thing in removing the previous Iraqi regime from power. I am also confident that we can prevail militarily in the current situation IF OUR TROOPS ARE ALLOWED TO DO SO! Unfortunately, much like Vietnam, we have tied their hands and cannot decide what our mission is going to be.

Democracy cannot be forced upon a nation unless they choose to embrace it. I fear that the region we call Iraq is too fragmented by thousands of years of turmoil, ethnic hatred, and religious intolerance for it to be united as a country. Unlike Germany in post WW II, there is not a general sense of nationalism on which to build.

Part of me wishes we would have established a mission to remove the regime, secure our interests, and make it clear that further threats to the US would result in 'grave results' for the region.

Sorry for the long post -- I guess I grow more passionate by the day. I hate to see our brave men and women put in a position that limits their abilities to fulfill their mission.

Now that's a scary thought.
I've already lived through one...I don't want to go through another.
I found a Gadsden times from Dec.5, 1967...headlines...that the total loss of planes in Viet Nam War was at 3000.

Politics and military campaign's do not mix.

The Dem's have been calling the War in Iraq Vietnam since day two.

We didn't go over there to stabilize the country. We went over there to hunt down the bad guys. Too bad there's no such place as Al-Quidaville. That would've made things so much easier.

The up side. Despite failed strategery, we've had the bad guys hiding in their holes since, kept them busy. We haven't had another 9-11 since we went over. If we leave, I believe Al-Quida will follow.

A song....

"Wastin' away down in Al-Quidaville".
Searching for my lost bringer of death...."
